Four of us attended the gala dinnerand dance on New Years Eve 2011 and the whole evening was excellent from beginning to end and represented very good value for money. We were greeted by a piper on arrival and given a complimentary aperitif, the meal was superb and was followed by a good DJ who played good music and was not too loud!! The ambience of the evening with a predeominently dinner jacket dress code was especially pleasing for a special occassion such as New Years Eve.

Thanks for yesterday: my colleague came in this morning raving about how helpful your staff had bee (and how much great food was supplied!) and how much the delegates had enjoyed the opportunity to talk informally in the lounge. Much appreciated :)

Golf in England’s north-west is dominated by links classics such as Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham and Hillside, but venture inland slightly and there are some great parkland courses that represent unbelievable value for money. Garstang is one of them. Built less than 20 years ago, this remarkably mature and testing layout is home to some of the country’s best inland greens and excellent drainage that makes it playable throughout the year. Situated only 30 minutes from Blackpool, Preston and Lancaster, it is ideally located for visiting parties, and, thanks to the large Best Western hotel which is on site, it offers travelling golfers a handy play-and-stay venue. The course itself was designed by PGA captain and master professional Richard Bradbeer in 1992 and meanders along the river Calder and Wyre, offering superb views. Not overly long and quite open, it seems on paper like a walkover, but that is far from the truth as it’s fast, undulating greens and low par of 68 offer lots of protection.

I play this 6050 yards par 68 course on a regular bases. The fairways are generous, but wonder into the trees and you will be punished. The 3rd hole is a par 3 180 yards. With water on the left side and trees to the right you need a good straight tee shot. Club selection is crucial. The 7th is a great hole your tee shot needs to clear the edge of the river but wil be rewarded if you hit the green which slops left to right. Price is £15.00 for a midweek tee time with weekends costing £18.00. A great course for the beginner but with some challenging holes for the more accomplished player

Another great course local to Blackpool. Good facilities like the practice green and floodlit driving range. Staff good, club shop has variety of stuff to buy in case you forget anything like ball markers and spare tees. Good grub & ale in the bar also !!

Just a quick note to thank you and you all for making Sunday a very special 90th birthday for my mother, everyone had a wonderful time.

I was privileged to attend a birthday party at your venue today and would like to pass comment on the food which was absolutely superb. My congratulations to the staff all of whom were very polite and attentive. Obviously due to the training they have been given.

This was a stopover of one night travelling from the South East to Scotland. The Hotel was adjacent to its golf course offering lovely views from the dining room.Our room was very clean, well appointed as was the bathroom. Plenty of hot water and a comfy bed. The breakfast was good with varied choices.The previous evening we took an evening meal at the restaurant and were not disappointed - good main courses at a reasonable price and adequate choices of wines. Staff were very friendly and courtious. If I had one gripe, there was no draught real ale in the bar, but I settled for Guinness and a look at the rugby league on the bar TV. Adefinite return visit is on the cards.

Gastang Hotel and golf club was easy to find and had lots of free parking.

A brilliant golf break. Hotel intimate and friendly, very helpful. Kept all our golf trollies, golf bags & damp gear in the locked Pro Shop overnight. We didn\'t even ask they just offered. The place has the feel of a smaller, very personal approach. Course was pretty good considering the amount of rain last week so bound to be slightly wet!

Nothing was too much trouble; we were a liitle late for dinner, not an issue. Wanted an earlier than standard breakfast, which was laid on for us

Having spoken to all the party who attended the golf trip we cannot find any faults in either the rooms, food, bar or golf course!!!! Our thanks go to the bar staff who served us well into the early morning on both days, the rooms were comfortable and of a high standard. Credit goes to your green staff with all the rain that we had over the last two days being mindful of the river bursting it\'s banks. All the staff are a credit to the hotel, we are looking forward to returning around this time next year. Keep up the good work.

We\'d like to thank everyone at garstang for such a wonderful day, from booking the wedding up until the day after when the guest left, the staff couldn\'t do enough for you, just knowing that wendy and the team had everything under control was a big weight of our shoulders especially after having a child six weeks before. On the day chris and the team never stopped and made the day such a success. Myself and cheryl can\'t thank everyone enough and its will be something we will never forget.

The room looked lovely, the food was excellent - many compliments - and the staff were very smart and efficient. One of them was even kind enough to take a group photograph of us with a few cameras!! The rooms were of a much better standard than I expected, food was great and staff very helpful. We had a superb 3 days at a great value. The food and accommodation were superior and the golf was on a course that was accessible for the beginners in the party but also testing for the more experienced golfers. The links between golfbreaks and the hotel were excellent and all our needs were met. Thanks for a very enjoyable break, we will be booking next year.

Hello. We were lucky enough to be married with you at the Garstang Hotel and Golf Club in July 2011. We could not begin to tell you how much the staff did for us, and how amazing the whole day was made. Even from the night before where we stayed and had a meal with family, all of the staff could not do enough to help us. On the day, we always had somebody around to help us,...and settle my nerves! Little touches that almost made us choose somewhere else came as standard with this venue and we are so very glad we came here rather than anywhere else. Played on Thurs 30/6/11, everything was immaculate, the course is so green and lush at the moment and there is not a blemish anywhere. Staff are ultra friendly and the course is relaxed, saw one guy in a pair of jeans and football shirt which is refreshing as the club is more bothered about people enjoying the game rather than the snobbish attitudes of many of the courses down the A6 in Preston. Greens are excellent, fairways don\'t have a mark on them, tees are spot on and signed really well. Bar is great to and food really tasty. Been playing here since 1997 and keep coming back, and with Staining (same relaxed attitudes as Garstang) best value pay and play in the Fylde/Wyre area in my opinion.

Can we say a huge thank you for making our day so perfect! Everyone loved it & we really couldn’t have done it without you – nothing was too much trouble to any of you, you just made it so easy and amazing. We all have not stopped talking about it... we wish we could do it all over again. We will always remember our big day with lots of smiles, laughter & hope to celebrate again with maybe somebody else’s wedding in the near future. My mum wants to thank Chris for all his hard work he was a star. Thank you for the arrangements made for my husband’s 80th lunch, everything went off well. the room was beautifully laid out and the table decorations were great. The food was excellent and the staff went out of themselves to be helpful and pleasant. The service could not be faulted.

Our reuninion was a huge success and, on behalf of all our members, I wish to thank you for all the tremendous organisation and smooth operation of the event. The layout and table decor werew ideal, plus, the added attention to detail with regimental colours superb. I would lik to congratulate your colleagues and staff for their efficient and polite servcie.

Golf Course: Easily accessible from the M6, close to Preston, Blackpool and Lancaster. This pay and play parkland course has wide fairways and a river runs alongside several holes. A couple of ponds also add interest to the layout. The 14th is perhaps the signature hole as it offers a lovely view of the viaduct carrying the canal with canal boats visible as you approach the green. Understandably, playing early in the season the greens were not at their best but they still offered a challenge all the way round. There are 5 par 3s and 5 par 5s which offer a variety of shots and use of several clubs. Clubhouse: Very pleasant with comfy chairs and the pro shop has a variety of products. Food: Before we played, the bacon roll was one of the best I’ve had. More formal dining is also available. Margaret says: It is an ideal course for beginners and average golfers with great practice facilities and there is an adjoining hotel should you wish to stay.

Just a few words to thank you very much for all the hard work that went into arranging our wedding on 17th december 2010. All the staff were helpful and attentive. The food was superb, and decorations were perfect. Thank you so much.

As a group we stay at this hotel the first weekend in February each year, to host our annual “Dinner Dance”. This is formal affair, speeches during the meal followed by dancing to a live act. The Hotel caters for our group that can be up to 110 guests and to get the timings of all meals to slot in will all the speeches, is as close to prefect as can be. A special mention must go to the following staff as without them things would not run just right, Wendy; for all her help in booking the event. Anne and James; nothing fazes these two and the service they give during our Dinner Dance is as example to other hotels in how to run an event. Brilliant! And finally I can’t forget Katy on the front desk, always sorts any problem with a smile. Keep up this high level of service, The Caravan Club will be back next year. Many Thanks Colin

Having only recently started playing golf, I go everyweek now to Garstang as it is cost effective and allow for slightly miss hit shots whilst still learning. I am very impressed with the course, the Fairways can sometimes be a little long, but you can always play regardless of the weather. At £17-00 for full 18 holes it is very cheap. The Par 4 first hole is a great warm up for the day and when the sun is shining the course is fantastic. The greens are well kept and challenging for a beginner. Good club house and shop with great menu and setting.

Played the course on the may bank holiday weekend with the lads from the Homeguard in Failsworth manchester. The course is very demanding and long and a pleasure to play, the 3rd hole par three is a great hole to play, tight but a good test for any player. Also the 7th hole is a good test the green is sat along side of the river anything left and you you need a pair of wellies, sorry waders. I think the best hole on the course is the par 4 15th also running along side a river any thing left get your trunks out you will need them, i should know on the first day i went in the drink. Any one wishing to go Garstang for the weekend i think you would find it hard to find a better place, the staff are fantastic they looked after us for three days and it was a pleasure to stay there.If you see a little old man sat at the 15th hole telling jokes he is called Eddie Carey just put him on a train back to Manchester.

Garstang will be open! This is generally the first response of any golfer in the Preston to Lancaster area who finds their course has been closed due to the poor weather. It then turns into wacky races as we all rush up (or down) the A6 to see if we can pay £15 and nip on. Its drainage is its forte with the front 9 mostly dominated by 2 rivers after the first 2 holes. It holds mixed emotions for me as a player. I introduced my dad to golf on this course with the course completely snowbound, including the greens!(I promise it never closes) and my playing partner broke 80 for the first time and month later. However, this wide and forgiving course tends to cause me many problems, luring me in with its expansive fairways, only to find my ball drawn to every hazard on the course. The back nine is a far tougher test with some deceptively long par 4\'s. The Par 3 third hole is my favourite here, not because i play it particularly well, completely the opposite. The tall trees either side of the fairway funnel into a narrow fairway that punishes any pulled shot by throwing it into the river. I never hook any shot on any course, until i play this one hole.

Always in great condition and well looked after all year round. A great course for beginners and lower handicappers alike. With wide fairways and generous greens there is always a chance of a new personal best here. A nice walk round too!

My husband and I have just returned from a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend at your Hotel. The hotel was very quiet with only ourselves at breakfast this morning but all the staff made a great effort to make us feel welcome and even cooked our choice of breakfast to order especially for us. Because there was just us we were served breakfast in the bar but every effort had been made to make it an elegant occasion with our table beautifully presented in the window overlooking the golf course. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and were greeted and looked after most efficiently. We will certainly consider staying with you again

Played this course twice ,really enjoyed it,the course is in good condition and very well looked after. The course is quite flat which makes it easy for walking, i will look forward to playing golf here again

Having been away for three weeks, my wife and i decided to spend the night at garstang hotel on our wayhome. Wonderful hotel was very quiet, as are most this time year, but thats what we wanted. The room was spacious and clean, the food of the highest quality without being too expensive and the sevice was also excellent. Really enjoyed it and woke up refreshed for the day ahead.

The food and service were excellent, we were very well looked after, first in the preparation and arrangements with Wendy Cookson, then on the eve of the wedding and wedding day by Anne Smith and her team, right through to leaving in the early hours by the duty manager, the whole day was most enjoyable, our guests along with us were most impressed. Thank you so much for the lovely day we had at Garstang Country Hotel & Country Club on 15th August 2009, from the moment we arrived to when we left everything appeared to run so smoothly. The meal was superb and the services 'Spot on'. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast first class. The disco was enjoyed by all and the bacon buns and chips went down very well.
